About

Norwegian big-mountain freeskier and filmmaker from Tromso, in the Arctic Circle. A Black Crows athlete known for pioneering descents in the wild landscapes of northern Norway, and for turning his freeride career into acclaimed cinematic storytelling. Directed and starred in the 2024 documentary 'Ski - The Greatest Ski Tour of All Time,' which won the Audience Award at the Trento Film Festival. Holds a master's degree in copyright law, earned alongside his skiing career, though he has never practiced.

Black Crows' own ambassador page features a direct on-record quote from Schirmer about his signature ski, the Corvus ('go fast - stomp big cliffs... now also became more nimble and easier to ski'). Scarpa's own ambassador page (his boot sponsor) independently corroborates his Feb 1, 1991 birthdate in Tromso and names the 4-Quattro Pro (flex 130) as his 'favourite product.' As a filmmaker, he directed and starred in 2024's 'Ski - The Greatest Ski Tour of All Time' (following friend Vegard Rye's feat of climbing and skiing 27 mountains in a row), which won the Audience Award at the Trento Film Festival; he's also been named European Skier of the Year (most recently 2023) for his cultural impact beyond athletic performance. A detail the flat claim misses: he holds a master's degree in copyright law (earned around the same time he tore up his knee in 2012) but has never practiced, choosing skiing and filmmaking instead.
