Privacy policy

Last updated 31 October 2026

In short: SkiSetups has no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising, and it never asks visitors for any information. This page explains the details, and what applies to the athletes the site writes about.

Who is responsible

SkiSetups is run by Niklas Bäcklund, based in the Netherlands, who is the controller of personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: [email protected].

When you visit the site

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you request, so that it can deliver the site and keep it secure. Cloudflare may give the site owner aggregate traffic figures. We do not use them to identify visitors.

The site sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Its fonts, images and scripts all come from skisetups.com itself, so no other company receives your request while you browse. The search box works in your browser: what you type is not sent to us.

When you email us

If you write to us, we use your address and your message to reply and, if you are reporting a mistake, to correct it. We keep the correspondence for as long as the matter needs and a reasonable time afterwards in case of follow-up, then delete it. We do not share it with anyone. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you and keeping the site accurate (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Information about athletes

The site publishes information about named professional athletes: their sport, nationality, birth date or year, height, hometown, results, sponsors, the equipment they compete on and, in some cases, a photograph. It comes from public sources such as federation and brand pages, FIS, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, and each entry links its references where one exists. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing public reference information about professional sport (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

If you are an athlete, or act for one, you can ask us to correct, update or remove information about you, or to remove a photo. See corrections for athletes. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under open licences, and the author and licence are shown with each one.

Links to other sites

Pages link to brand sites, Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, social profiles and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected, erased or restricted. You can also object to our use of it, and ask for it in a portable format. Email us at the address above. We answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or to the authority in your own country.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
