Ganong spent 18 years on the US Ski Team (World Cup debut 2009) before retiring in March 2023 after a 3rd-place finish at the Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbuhel. He competed in 2 Olympics (2014 Sochi, 5th in downhill; 2022 Beijing), won 2 World Cup downhills (Santa Caterina 2014, Garmisch-Partenkirchen 2017), and took World Championship silver in the downhill at 2015 Beaver Creek. Per his own comments to Team USA around retirement, he grew up idolizing hometown hero Shane McConkey and always free-skied more than he raced as a kid, planning to return to his big-mountain and backcountry roots post-retirement. He's a Palisades Tahoe team athlete and long-time Atomic-sponsored skier (a relationship going back through his racing career, confirmed via Atomic's own current athlete page), though no specific pro-model ski could be confirmed for his post-retirement big-mountain skiing after searching.
