About

Austrian freeride skier from Tirol, based in Innsbruck, nicknamed 'Valle'. A former alpine ski racer who switched to freeride competition in 2016 after joining Ski Club Arlberg, training under former FWT rider Stefan Hausl. In 2023 became the first Austrian ever to win the Freeride World Tour Ski Men overall title. Followed up with a 4th-place overall finish in 2025 (including a runner-up podium at Val Thorens) and continues to compete on both the main FWT circuit and the FWT Challenger series.

FWT's own rider bio and SnowBrains: Rainer won the 2023 Freeride World Tour Ski Men title, the first Austrian ever to do so. Backed up the title with a 4th-place overall finish in 2025 (runner-up at Val Thorens), and is currently placed 16th overall in the 2026 FWT Ski Men standings while also competing on the FWT Challenger Europe-Asia-Oceania circuit (best Challenger result: 3rd at X Over Ride Kitzsteinhorn). His ski sponsor is Nordica (listed on Nordica's own Freeride Crew roster); SCOTT sponsors his goggles, helmet, backpack, protection and poles rather than his skis - confirmed via SCOTT's own athlete page, which does not list skis among his SCOTT gear.
